The other Obama; Michelle

Ran by the men but the women keep the tempo.

Michelle Obama is most comfortable dressing for the middle class. The dress? Tracy Reese. The price? Well it's a custom piece but Reese has similar dresses ranging from $395 to $450, a price that the middle class can afford. And if you can't afford the dress, maybe heading down to the Southpark Mall in Charlotte, minutes away from the venue the First Lady spoke at last night, will allow you to purchase the pink suede pumps from J. Crew for a moderate $245.

It's all certainly more affordable than say a $1,990 Oscar de la Renta shirtdress, though I adore the designer and his brand. I'm convinced that four more years of a First family that lives within the means of the majority of Americans is well suited.

It certainly wasn't all about dresses - nor the nod to physical fitness as exemplified by our first ladies exposed arms - as Mrs. Obama gave a powerful speech to accompany the visual. With quotes that were instantly sent around the world and back via Twitter she spoke of Obama from a vantage point that few can: a personal one, a familial one. If my timeline was any indication, the speech was a resounding win.

Fashion is a cultural barometer and should be used as such; style just being the tool of utilization.  Michelle understands that.
