Ro James - classic at Apple, SoHo

"We aren't up here singing about guns and killing people; we sing about what we know. And what we know - what I know about - is love."
Now whether he meant the act or the emotion is something you have to decide for yourself but Ronnie "Ro" James is dead on about one thing - he's a singer.

In a sea of studio produced artists with manufactured vocals, it was nice to hear a voice embodying classic "real" music with overtures of soul and R&B and a strong undertone of gospel at Apple's Meet the Musician event in SoHo. The "Pledge Allegiance" artist, who has worked with the likes of Miguel, Asher Roth and Snoop Dog, comes off two parts authentic, one part confident with a hearty helping of "old soul." His set for Apple - with the likes of Willy Cartier, Luke James and Ryan Leslie in the audience - and accompanying Q&A showed just that.

Having just released the second part of a 3 part project entitled Coke, Jack, Cadillac, the G.O.O.D. Music affiliated artist seems to be doing all the right things.

"Put your love in my pocket" - yea, he's that nice.
